review 1: I found that Hibi Chouchou is really refreshing, usually mangas that are based in highschool life have a REALLY popular guy and a niave girl. Okay, it's still kind of like that, but it's nothing too overwhelming, instead you get to calmly watch what's going on and wonder what's going to happen next. This really sweet manga is about a really pretty girl who is quite and doesn't know how to interact to boys (although she is very popular with them) and a boy who doesn't know how to interact with girls. The graphics are good i don't find any fault with them....other than the fact that the next volume hasn't come out yet, or if it has, i haven't read the english version of it.
review 2: Just a simple story of a love blossoming between two quiet people.Suiren is a ve
... morery cute girl who is frightened of guys due to the pushy way they tried to approach her when she was still a kid (they teased her, showed her all sorts of stuff they thought she'd find interesting like a crab, and who-knows-what that guy kids do to girls they like). She also doesn't speak much and lives in her own world. Dubbed as Takane no Hana or the flower in a high peak which means she is completely unreachable and can only be watched from afar, she hangs out mostly with her friends who understands her and her peculiarities. Upon reaching high school, Suiren is still as popular as ever. In fact, a few senpai try to force her to hang out with them when Kawasumi interrupts and saves her. This piques her interest on him and the love story begins!!!This is similar to Kimi no Todoke where the pace is really slow and it goes through the every day lives of the characters. But what makes Hibi Chouchou stand out is the fact that it has a lot of scenes where there's no dialogue whatsoever. It's to be expected because Suiren and Kawasumi are the silent types. That's probably why I find this so refreshing! Lately, most pairings have at least one of the two that's loud or at least assertive. It's nice to see what it would be like if both of them aren't like that.Still, I know this isn't a manga made just for anyone. Suiren and Kawasumi are slow in realizing their feelings for each other and making a move so it'll take a while before an interesting development between them will happen. Therefore I recommend it to readers who are patient, interested in the kind of love that's mostly about "looking at each other from far away" and "thinking about each other" instead of kissing and the works, and doesn't mind looking at pages full of drawings that have no balloons!!! :) less
