review 1: “You slept with my aunt?”UMMMMM, HELLO!!! Did that grab your attention just like it got mine? Imagine hearing those words when you’re getting ready to sit down for your family’s Thanksgiving dinner. Better yet, you are the one saying them. Ohhhh, Tori! How could you not feel sorry for her right from the beginning?Open Door Marriage was so different from most other books that are currently available. Here we have a NBA player torn between an aunt and her niece. But, the thing is he really isn’t torn. He is in love with one, but feels obligated to the other.I don’t understand the concept of and/or why anyone would want an open door marriage, but to each their own. Kai has painted a colorful cast of characters and I found myself understanding why each of them woul... mored enter into such an agreement. Each character brought out a different set of feelings such as disbelief, desperation, disgust, all of which led to understanding. Open Door Marriage was a page turner and it helped to expose just how far some people will go and what they will accept to have some type of love in their life.
review 2: Open Door Marriage. ♥♥♥ 1/2(SEMI-SPOILER ALERT)When I seen the title of the book and seen who the author was, Oh yeah, I knew I was going to get a wonderfully written twist of a three-way type of relationship story! I was ready! Book downloaded (check); Kids sleeping comfortable in their respected beds (double-checked). My tablet in hand, laid back and comfortable, and ready to read. The story started off excellent, straight drama from page one. As I continued to read within the middle of the story, I become upset, fussing at the pages as if the characters were in front of me. A good thing you shall say. That suggests the author has done a superb task in grabbing hold of your interest from the very beginning, meaning it shall hold your interest to end. Yes or No. However, as I continue to read, I was still getting upset, but not as much, I was starting to get aggravated. I just felt the book was no longer holding my attention so I found myself only reading to find out the outcome.Even through the ending was somewhat predictable, overall it was a worthy story, but something was just missing. The character development was decent but was not what I expected. I would have like to have seen the author just go in a little more in depth with the aunt character (Alicia); very little in my opinion was written about her past. Why was she always running? Why was she so afraid to love? I just did not get it. I did not see from what is written about her past that would hence her behavior of just up and leaving when a situation was not in her favor. She seem too perfect for me, she always seem to say and do the right things besides, the running off part. The niece character (Tori) seem to be too over dramatic and frantic for the affection of Dallas(her fiancé) love. She seem to be printed to be a beautiful and educated young lady, but it didn't flourish much because of her need to compete with her aunt for a man who obviously from day one, just seen her as his best friend. The back and forward issues with the aunt & niece were not attention grabbing, but their family was just outrageously hilarious. Therefore, that is some major points!Dallas, I had a love/hate relationship. One minute he will do and say the sweetest things. Aww! Then, next, I wanted to go straight ratchet on him. Nevertheless, what person, man or woman is not like this? No one is perfect. So maybe I'll let him slide just a little. (Pinching index finger to thumb) In addition, I like how the author carried in the issues within his family, which was a bit of a twist that I enjoyed the most.I only had wish the author had made the characters of Dallas & Tori already married, and then the character of the aunt (Alicia) later introduced. As the story penned, it was more of an Open Door Relationship, if it were written in a matter where the characters were already married then in ‘my opinion’; it would have been an Open Door Marriage.Maybe, the author will do a sequel. Hint, hint! Wink, wink! It is not my job as a reader to lessen the value of my review base on typos, and misspelled words; they were there, but didn’t in any way take away from the story, therefore it does not in any way influence the review of the story. less
