review 1: At first, I was like... WTH. So childish and immature! But I suddenly remember how I act when I was Anna, Sou and Hinata's age and realized that they mirror who am I almost ten years back - childish and immature. Haha.I particularly liked the plot because although I didn't grow up with two boys living so close to me, I had my fair share of guy friends and Stardust Wink especially reminded me of my closest boy friends back in High School. We were 14 then, almost the same age as the main characters of this story. I met them in school and fondly called both my GBFs or Guy Best Friend. What? BFF still isn't a thing back then so GBF sounded original! Haha.I am also as loud and annoying as Anna. Frederick, the other GBF is as reserved as Hinata while James is as cool and funny as... more Sou.Of course, feelings will develop same as this story, but after almost a decade, I came to realize that even though it is inevitable, everything was just a byproduct of our friendship and how much we care for each other.James would later on be just a friend. Our GBF ties was cut abruptly by I can't remember what while Frederick still is my bestfriend until today and yes, we promised to be BFFs.
review 2: I think I've been in a good mood today because I've been giving a lot of manga 5-star ratings. :) But anyway, this manga seriously deserves it.It's ADORABLE!! I've always been a fan of Nana Haruta after her 4-volume series, Saboten no Himitsu (Cactus's Secret). But anyway, this review is DEFINITELY going to include spoilers, and since I'm reviewing this book STRAIGHT from updating my status to "finished", I'm too lazy to find, copy, and paste the "spoiler" tags. So . . . . . . if you do not wish to read any spoilers, please get your face out of this review...I care about my review readers and I want them to experience the manga along with me without anything being spoiled, so if you haven't read Vol. 1 of Stardust Wink, don't read ahead!!!!!!But here's a portion of my review before I put up my boundary spoiler line: I loved this series because it was absolutely adorable, it was capable of making me smile, I love anything with love triangles, and this volume definitely makes me want to continue on to Volume 2!!So . . . . . . if you dare proceed past the Spoiler Boundary line, do not say that I didn't warn you . . .-------------Spoiler Boundary Line------------------Alrighty, so . . . let me just start with the plot summary.Stardust * Wink is about Anna Koshiro and her two childhood friends, Sou and Hinata. They've known each other all of their lives, and they even live in the same apartment complex.Basically, the story starts out with Anna realizing that Sou and Hinata are becoming more handsome and popular. Plus, the people around her keep suggesting that Anna is dating one of them--when she is definitely for sure that she isn't.Instead, she is very confident on the fact that she is in love with her upperclassman, Enomoto. When Enomoto and Anna begin dating (this is within the first chapter) and Enomoto tries to kiss Anna, Anna kicks him in the chin. Within the next day, she breaks up with Enomoto, figuring that if she thinks kissing a certain dude is disgusting, it means she does not like him. This is . . . somewhat true. I mean if I think kissing a certain guy is gross, I probably wouldn't like him either. But I have a feeling that Anna will learn some sort of life lesson in this series about her issue with kissing certain dudes and knowing what she feels when she likes a guy.Plus, the fact that Anna kicked him in the chin sorta made me laugh, so . . .The first chapter ends with a cliffhanger off of Sou telling Anna that he likes her, which I think is a pretty good cliffhanger to lead onto the next chapter. In the next chapter, Anna doubts that Sou is telling the truth, and she figures that he's just asking her out because he wants a girlfriend in general. But when Anna finds out that Sou is actually telling the truth, she becomes extremely confused on whether or not she likes him back. She reveals that she thought she liked Enomoto, but when he tried to kiss her, she had thought "How disgusting". Therefore, she confirmed that she didn't like him. (Basically she was saying that if she doesn't think kissing a certain dude is disgusting, then she'd like them.)So...when Sou kisses her, she doesn't kick him or slap him. Since they successfully kissed, they agreed to go out with each other. And then in Chapter 3, Sou and Anna end up breaking up because Anna is still confused about whether or not she likes Sou. However, they still remain as friends. But the volume ends with the question of whether all three of them will be attending the same high school the following year (since they're in their 3rd year of middle school). And also, the volume ends with a dude watching them from afar. THE END!!!Now basically, since I haven't finished the series and I just finished volume one, I just want to say that this manga is adorable and I really want to continue reading the rest. I know this was a lame-o review, but this is only volume one, so my reviews should get a little more broad about what I like and dislike as I progress further.Anyway, I love the adorable-ness, as well as the original plot that Haruta has set up for the readers. I'm sure Anna will have to result in choosing between Sou and Hinata--but I'm not sure who she'll pick.Plus, this manga DID make me smile, so it gets points for that. Anyway, this volume made me think of giving this series a five star rating. It's all downhill as I progress through the rest of the series.---------------------End of spoiler boundary line!!---------------Anyway, I definitely recommend this series to fellow shoujo fans that are searching for a cute, hilarious love-triangle story!! :DI'll show you a sweet dream next night. less
