review 1: This compilation by Nancy Guthrie contains short advent readings for the Christmas season. Readings come from a broad range of writers and time periods, though mostly of the reformed tradition. It was a good book to ready your heart for the holiday season. This morning (Christmas Eve), I read the final story by Joni Erickson Tada, which may have been one of the strongest stories reminding of the reason for Christmas.
review 2: I found this to be a great book for the time leading up to Christmas - Advent. The collection of essays that Nancy pulled together is diverse and profound. There are 22 readings, so if you start on December 1 and aim to read one essay every day, you can still miss a couple of days and end on Christmas.
