review 1: God knows how many times I've rolled my eyes while reading this. The main character (whose name I can't remember) just gets on my nerve. I get it, she's insecure. But she also incredibly needy, temperamental and to me, simply plain annoying. Somehow, she orbits her life around a boy whom gave her a "look" in class which dictates that their lives must be irrevocably linked. Her actions make no sense, even with the supernatural explanation the book gave. Luckily, the book kinda picks up near the end, when the narration is less in her head and more on the actions. However in the end, it manages to flip things over with a disappointing ending, being that there's no sense of a veritable ending. I appreciate fiction with hanging ending, giving the readers the freedom to prolong ... morethe story on their own. But, in this case, it just fizzles out.
review 2: Mediocre romance a la ghost story. MC is ridiculous and unlikeable. Features a lot of tiresome internal dialogue from an insecure, whiny, jealous and unconfident protagonist.the plot actually hinges on none of the characters having any honest dialogue with each other. If inspired by Rebecca, I fail to draw the comparison favorably. However, may appeal to teens who aren't too picky about their romances. References to drug use, underage drinking, and sex. Oh, and murder. less

Horribly painful to read. The writing was atrocious - nobody, not even teens, talk like that.

This book was...odd. It had good parts, but it was fairly generic and predictable.
