review 1: This is a book I picked up at the library on a whim, just looking for a light read. For the most part, I got what I expected. Unlike several of the people who wrote reviews that I just skimmed over, I don't have any complaints about the moral issues of the book. I feel like most of the situations/responses/feelings were realistic and understandable(though it would have made much more sense, to me personally, if Carley would have insisted that either Maud or Toby tell Vanessa about the affair). My biggest issue with the book is Vanessa's death. I suppose it was meant to be a "wake up call" for Carley, and/or it was done for shock value. Ummm, weren't there enough wake up calls?? It's just stupid to me that that is what it took for her to finally validate her relationship wi... moreth Wyatt.Vanessa's death was just so sad to me (to be perfectly honest, I was livid and wouldn't look at the book for two days... I almost didn't finish reading it)and I don't feel like it was given adequate attention.Furthermore, I could not really be happy for Carley in the end. Her friend Vanessa was an orphan who struggled with infertility for thirteen years. Her husband left her for her best friend. Her other best friend knew about it but didn't tell her. She finally gets pregnant unexpectedly and is happy, only to die during childbirth. WTF?! Meanwhile, Carley has two children, a hot new boyfriend who turns out to also be perfect husband and father material, a wildly successful new business (and a book to go with it!), her own parents and sisters, and her financially stable in-laws. So, yes, let's also give Carley her dead friend's newborn AND two million dollars (though she somehow still can't afford air conditioning). Oh, and also, let's get her pregnant by the new hot husband. To sum it up,I enjoyed the book for the most part, but I found the "happy ending" quite annoying.
review 2: This was a good story. After Carley's husband passed away, she had to figure out how to move on with her life while raising her two daughters. She also needed to find a way to bring home money, considering her husband had been the bread winner and had made poor decisions in financing. In addition to monetary issues, the main character has turmoil within her friendship between two friends. Carley also wants to find love and finds it with her deceased husband's best friend. This book has a lot of twists and turns, and is just an all around feel good book. The only parts of this book that I did not like was the fact that the author kept writing that the husband was "dead." I felt that there were better ways to write about the passing instead of writing "dead." It made all sentences with this topic come to a complete halt to me. less

Superficial characters and melodramatic ending. Disappointed I chose this for our book club.

Loathed the character of Maud, but other than that, a really good read.
