review 1: This took a while to get going, and I felt the author wasn't terribly engaged in the first half of this book. But suddenly it takes a turn and from then on it's fireworks - taut scenes, intense situations, sharp storytelling, incisive observations, three-dimensional characters - and totally involving prose. From the middle onwards, I was annoyed at anything that dragged me away from the pages. Really enjoyed it.
review 2: James feels like Jenny's male version in the Gossip Girls . Trying really hard to fit in and to put it in rude terms a little like a dog as described meanly by Mark in the book following the rich as his "master". I understood the sort of love James felt on the last day of staying with his oxford friends and I felt that it was very kind written
... more :) personally though I don't like the sort of "love" the rich have with each other -it feels superficial. Or maybe it's a different kind of love that people in reality faces so I don't understand it well enough. My first attempt at reading something about gays , kind of insightful and I also realized that the writer is really good at describing the environment, ambience perfectly! However,3.5 stars really cuz I didn't thought it appeals to me too much. less
