review 1: Felicity, her sister Frannie Jo, and her Mom return to Midnight Glutch, their hometown, that once used to be filled with magic. However, once that magic was gone, Felicity's Mom has been moving their family from place to place never quite happy with where they settle. When they final go back to their hometown, Felicity along with her new friend Jonah come up with a plan to try and keep her family there. I found the plot confusing. There were way too many characters to keep track of and I do not think this will win the Newbery Medal.
review 2: A Snicker of Magic really pulled me in emotionally and I felt myself invested in the characters right from the beginning. I became really attached to Felicity and all the characters around her and you can't help but b
... moree interested in everyone's individual story. Lloyd does a great job using the setting of Midnight Gulch as a character, as well. Also, it really makes you want to eat ice cream, all the time. I would recommend this book for later elementary/middle grade, since Felicity, the main character, is in sixth grade. less
