Although I am currently developing a new middle grades novel titled Fake News, the headline on this post does not fall into the category of false reporting. Lance Rubin, one of the most talented young adult authors in the game today, has read my debut novel, No Sad Songs (which drops on February 20 for anyone keeping score).
If you’ve never heard of Lance Rubin, then you need to start reading more young adult literature. In my humble opinion, it’s the genre that seems to be consistently producing the most groundbreaking work in the literary world these days. It’s literally not just for teens anymore. Lance Rubin’s work is testament to this statement. His Denton Little series is simultaneously dark and hilarious, sarcastic and sweet. In the story of Denton, a young man who finds out he may be living his final day on Earth, readers are thrust into a network of delightful plot twists, brain-busting crime caper, and laugh-out-loud hilarity. It’s a unique world only Lance Rubin could create. I highly recommend you pick up a copy of Denton Little’s Death Date and its sequel, Denton Little’s Still Not Dead, as soon as you can. You won’t be disappointed.
Likewise, I wasn’t disappointed in the least by hearing the kind words Mr. Rubin heaped on my debut, No Sad Songs. In fact, I was pretty darn delighted. Have a look:
“In No Sad Songs, Morelli deftly balances genuinely hilarious moments with gut-punchingly moving ones. A big-hearted, seriously funny read.”
-Lance Rubin, author of Denton Little’s Deathdate and Denton Little’s Still Not Dead
