review 1: I think what caught me interested in this was that it had Celtic in it. I like reading more about Celtic especially about the sidhe more than anything. I think I've only read a few books regarding the sidhe in the YA genre and the rest more on adult. Emily's House is very original and every time I read the next chapter it kept me on guessing what would happen next. I'm glad that Ms. Natalie Wright included a note on how some names should be correctly pronounced since I myself maybe reading it another way but it isn't.I was more interested in the story of the actual Order of Brighid and of Saorla and Cathair than actually Emily. Emily kind of annoyed me through out the whole book with her constant whining but what I like about her is that she was able to do the right thing ... moredespite what she really wanted to choose. She's very lucky that Jake and Fanny got her back and that they stayed and support her till the end. Each of them different from one another but at the same time they just clicked. If I didn't know there were 2 books after this I thought it would have ended just the way it is. So I'm off to reading Emily's next adventure as she tries to be the next priestess of the Order of Brighid.I received a copy from YA BOUND BOOK TOURS
review 2: First of all let me just say that although I’m not a great fan of fantasy books this was one read I actually enjoyed. It’s not your typical young adult paranormal adventure (at least not to my standards). The plot drew me in right away because it's completely different from the books I’ve read lately. You are first introduced to fourteen year old Emily, a teenager who doesn't think too highly of herself, and who is constantly mistreated by an overbearing aunt. Things soon change when an unexpected visitor stops by and drops a bomb in the form of revelations of who she really is and what she is destined to do.Although I would like to say more, I would hate to spoil things for those who have yet to read this amazing story. However, one of the things I enjoyed the most about this book is that this is not just a story of a girl who's destined to save the world, but it's also a tale of self-discovery and acceptance. Emily has to come to terms with the things she cannot change even though she really doesn't want to.If you enjoy books that keep you on a constant roller coaster ride, with characters who warm their way into your hearts, and with surprising twists you don't see coming until you're there, then this is the book for you.Although this book is categorized as a young adult, I wouldn't recommend it to younger readers simply because it has a lot of cussing. If you're one to be put out by that (which I'm not) then keep that in mind.Overall, I give this book two thumbs up and five out five stars : )P.S. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series. less
