review 1: Bad Wolf is pretty much what you want a crime novel to be: fast-paced, disturbing, and well-written. The twist isn't telegraphed and the ending is pretty satisfying. Some of the language is a little awkward due to the fact that it's a translation; I also didn't feel like the detectives were as fleshed-out as they could have been. But it was a good read and I'm definitely on the lookout for Snow White Must Die; I hear it's even better than Bad Wolf.
review 2: I'll try to keep this short and sweet. I think a good police procedural should have a strong mystery aspect to it and the mystery of BAD WOLF is not successful at all. The author points at suspicious character way too obviously and takes lazy storytelling choices. The narrative is convoluted and contains to... moreo many useless characters who have for sole purpose to wrench emotion out of the reader. The many strands of the story come together very clumsily. I'm not comfortable being overly critical of a novel, but I'm not comfortable telling you some of you might enjoy this either. There are better police procedurals. There are better mysteries. There are better novels. Skip this one. less
