review 1: A pretty good read but it could have been better. I liked the idea for the story and both Michael and Christina were really interesting characters but I felt like the overall plot wasn't very clear along the way. The way it was written, even ignoring all the grammar problems, came across as disjointed to me and just seemed to jump from one situation to the next. Aside from this I found the book an enjoyable read. The content was a bit alarming in some places - particularly all the references to rape - but surprisingly that never actually happened. Michael's character was a prime example of a true grey character. He wasn't a sadistic psychopath like Adrian, but he didn't care about murder, rape, or torture in general as long as it was towards getting whatever job he had to... more do done. He began to change by the end of the story under Christina's innocent influence but he's still one screwed up character. Christina also changed a lot over the course of the book. She toughened up a lot after everything she went through but managed not to become completely desensitized. I thought her good character showed through when she still wanted to save her parents, despite the way they gave up on her to save themselves. Her mother is a real piece of work and the way she still cared enough to save her after everything she had survived was incredible. Christina and Michael's relationship was also really messed up - like a lot of the story - but I think by the end of the book Christina had at least acknowledged that despite all the horrible things Michael had done to her, she had some feelings for him regardless of how conflicted they were. Michael's own acknowledgement was a bit surprising and I found it hard to pinpoint when he had really begun to change and care about Christina. Anyway, this was a good story overall and I'd recommend it if you're looking for a dark thriller/suspense sort of romance read. I'm going to continue on with the series to see what will happen with Michael and the IMA now that Adrian is in charge. I'm also interested to see what Christina will get up to and how her path will eventually cross with Michael's again.
review 2: I really enjoyed it.not at all like I was expecting.the story was fast and intense and Michael was the right side of bad ass but also hot at times.I did find myself confused in parts like a sentence or two was missing and how did that happen. but I cannot wait to read more by this author and continue the story for christina and Michael.also Adrian was beyond horrible he was dispicable, and how many times of being knocked out is it going to cause a health problem lol- if you read it you will understand less
