review 1: I read this book with my 2 and 4-year-old sons. It was their first exposure to poetry - and after reading it all the way through with them (100+ pages), I have to say this is an amazing book. Simple, beautiful poetry that captures the beauty of the world and a childhood spent in nature, playing, learning, observing. On a tangent: one of the poems, about worms, even has the word poop - never thought I would see that one in a poem. But the poetry isn't silly, just straightforward and eloquent. The art in this book is amazing and beautiful. We checked it out from the library, and it's one of those books I think I am just going to have to buy.

For younger children this book is a great way to learn how to read and to learn about nature. The illustrations in this book allow for the reader's imagination to wander. Each picture is unique and looks textured. This poetry book is a good edition to a classroom because it can be used as a teaching tool or just for a fun book for them to read. less
