review 1: An intriguing book that I was ready to cast aside after the first chapter but something kept me going and I'm glad of it. Nicholas Dickner and translator Lazer Lederhendler, artfully weave the stories of three young people enchanted by their own mysterious pasts. Although unbeknownst to them, they are all connected (aren't we all only six degrees of separation away from anyone?)by one man, Jonah Doucet. Dickner places his protagonists in close proximity of each other and titillates the reader with the prospect of their paths crossing. Highly enjoyable, even the fishy parts.
review 2: Q: How many hipsters does it take to change a lightbulb?A: It's a very obscure number. You've probably never heard of it.That's the feel of the novel to me. Idiosyncratic people
... more doing quirky things, talking of obscure backgrounds and subjects in little-known places. There's also a strong dose of the first novel's "look how much I know." So little story that the wank ending hardly even bothered me. less

I found this book a waste of time. I couldn't make sense of it at all.
