review 1: Age range: 2-5Literacy skill: Print awarenessThis book has lovely cut paper illustrations. It follows a cat through the course of its day, from cleaning to stretching. This is a great book to begin to teach kids that print has meaning. Each page shows the cat engaged in some activity and has a word to go with that activity (like "stretch"). This would be a fun one to have kids act out at storytime.
review 2: A simple new picture book from McClure. Two cats, kitten and mother, are drawn performing typical feline actions. Stretching, pouncing, cleaning, eating. The simplicity of this book invites participation from children during storytime. It also affords a chance to increase vocabulary. The illustrations show the 2 cats eating, the word displayed is feast. An ... moreillustration shows sleeping cats, but is labeled dream.A good one for a quite storytime. less
