review 1: The book has many inviting illustrations and a good blurb. It uses impeccable English not routinely found in Indian novels. The binding and paper used is very good. I would definitely commend the Editor Mr. David Davidar for having done a fabulous work.Reading this book was a big ordeal and I kept reading it in a vain hope that the story will appear and a plot will reveal itself. Nothing of the sort happened till the end. All it has is few cats some stray and some domestic which fight among themselves at times and then fight with dogs, cheels, mongoose, etc. many other animals keep coming like Zoo tiger. There is no story to hold your attention and turning pages seem unnecessary. You jump pages and never seem to miss anything. Should have been a picture book for small chil... moredren. All those 5 star reviews mislead.Pricey because of illustrations not really needed.
review 2: I wasn't sure what to expect of this book. Turns out to be a Harry Potter story... with cats as protagonists. Little Mara is a Sender - the kitten with special powers. There are hellish dementor feral cats with an evil Voldermort leader. And a motley bunch of wildings, cheels, a mouse (Jethro Tail :D) and even a mongoose. The story leads up to a massive showdown between the two groups, complete with magic and bloodshed. The muggles, called Bigfeet in the novel, are true to form and remain kind of clueless of the goings on about their neighbourhood. Besides being thoroughly entertained, I got plenty of useful insights into the nature of cats. Musn't forget to mention the brilliant illustrations in the novel. less
