review 1: This book was only ok. It took me forever to finish it, and that is not a good sign. I had really high hopes for it, but somewhere along the lines my interest began to wean. I just put it down and did not feel like picking it back up. I would read a paragraph here, a page there. Until I finally got to the end. I really don't know if the book is as bad as I'm making it seem, or if I'm just upset that it didn't meet my expectations. I love this author as a whole but she could have sone a WAYYYYY better job than this.
review 2: Expected MoreNisa Santiago’s GUARD THE THRONE is misleading. I thought between the synopsis and the title that the book would be about a drug kingpin with an empire, or a throne, that he passes on to his children Chris, Cane and Citi who
... morearen’t quite ready for the responsibilities but have to get ready after their father is dethroned in order to stay on top. Instead, this novel is about a drug dealer, not a kingpin, that left behind an almost nonexistent “business” and the kids have to scramble to survive. No throne, therefore no need to guard it. It took some time to get past that disappointment and level of expectation. Beyond that, GUARD THE THRONE is just an okay read. Not good. Not bad. It’s a typical tale that made for a quick read.Reviewed by: Tracy less
