Apple & Kola: The Baddest Chick
review 1: Was definitely looking forward to reading this after reading Bad Apple, however, I found Coca Lola to be a disappointing read. The storyline was funny to me & often didn't make sense. The relationship change between Apple and Chico at the end, didn't fall in line with rest of the story. The story felt rushed at times & this was an overall bad read. I am usually a HUGE Nisa Santiago supporter and am hoping for a more exciting read in Checkmate.
review 2: Round TwoSisters Apple and Kola are back for another round in this highly anticipated follow-up to Bad Apple readers find Kola reigning supreme while Apple's life has taken a dramatic tailspin. Left disfigured Apple is no longer viewed as untouchable and solely has to rely upon her new boyfriend Chico. Making
... more Apple's situation even more unbearable is that her twin sister Kola has continued to make power moves in and out of the bedroom with Apple's former crush Cross. Apple is attempting to fight off the depression that accompanies her physical scars and her newfound dismal financial situation. However karma is serving Apple her just deserts and the string of bad breaks doesn't transform Apple into a stronger person, just the opposite she becomes a whiny psychopath.Meanwhile Kola is learning some of the negative aspects that come along with wealth and power. Forcing her to make some hard decisions about the people in her inner circle. Unlike part one which focused more on Apple part two although named after Kola also focuses on the men in each of the sisters' lives. Chico and Cross's animosity goes deeper than just dating warring sisters even without the influence of their respective mates they were destined to be rivals fighting for control of the Harlem drug market. Both men will stop at nothing to obtain that control even if it involves hurting their mates. Exemplifying that both sisters are more alike than they would care to imagine especially when it comes to selecting a mate. Coca Kola although a decent follow-up wasn't as captivating as the first installment, Bad Apple. However it does pave the way for an explosive conclusion, Checkmate where some much needed answers should be revealed. Especially as to which sister will survive the bitter rivalry.DelonyaARC Book Club Inc.3 Stars less
