review 1: Loaned from a friend, I began this dubious read only a week ago. What a pleasant surprise! Though the writing style was a bit different from what I'm used to, with many breaks and overlapping, simultaneous perspectives, I found this book hard to put down. A somewhat fantastic and eccentric story, we discover it's possible to make friends in the most unlikely of circumstances. Would definitely recommend it.
review 2: This is an odd bizarre coming of age story set in 1962 and I really liked it. It's about people jumping to conclusions of hate, learning to be open to love, growing up, grief and loss and the fickleness of coincidences in life. Julianna thinks it's 1923 and she escapes from a mental hospital. She picks up the main character Elijah, a 15 year o... moreld black child, and their escapade begins as she tries to go back to her childhood home in 1923. I found I couldn't put the book down.
