review 1: Noelle is full of fears. She is afraid of all the usual things, like heights and public speaking. And she has many, many other fears, big and small. But she copes with these. Until one day she doesn’t. She loses her job and all her fears come flooding her brain. Paralyzed. Then she runs across a quote of Eleanor Roosevelt: “Do one thing every day that scares you.”So she does. She choose one thing every day that frightens her and she does it. She gets better and stronger every day. Note: She is guided by a wise and caring therapist. Some of my favorite parts of her year long challenge were her meetings with her therapist, and the gently clever ideas he shared with her.

... moreiever that we all do things when we are ready, and I must have been ready for this book. Noelle Hancock recounts the highlights of her "year of living fearlessly" after being inspired by a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt. I really enjoyed how she worked in information about Eleanor and her life including things about her marriage and life with FDR. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a good story, or some inspiration. less

I appreciated her pointing out how excitement and fear ride the same edge, but I got tired of listening to her talk about her different adventures. I realized I am also tired of people doing something for a year and then writing a book about that. I did enjoy learning more about Eleanor as she is an amazing woman. This book also got me thinking about keeping adventure in my life instead of getting stuck in routines, but that doesn't mean I'll be swimming with sharks anytime soon.

This was one of the free monthly Amazon Prime books and I chose it at random. However, I liked it very much. Noelle Hancock chronicles her year of facing a new fear every day under the writings and tutelage of Eleanor Roosevelt. It included interesting glimpses of Eleanor's life that made me want to read more about her. Aspects of Noelle's life resonated with me, and I felt she portrayed herself with honesty and vulnerability. Good stuff!
