review 1: Blech.... The beginning was a jumbled mess that appeared to be a collection of random essays. Then, finally after about chapter 8, it seemed that there were some threads of connection between the stories. Unfortunately by this point, I was so frustrated with the book, I almost set it down. But, I persevered and read through to the bloody end. Honestly, I can not recommend this book. The characters were insufferable, the story not even interesting. I was so glad to be done.

... moreage and referred to here, but of the very concise work of Borges. which is not necessarily weighed down with a plot that weaves in and out of this world and the next. made me think of Sweet Dreams by Michael Frayn, which I found much more involving, more philosophically inspiring, though this has its moments. less
