review 1: This was my first Oliver Potzsch novel. While it was an entertaining read, I also found it a little silly. Some of the action scenes brought to mind unbelievable situations in movies I've seen, where the heroes escape the bad guys by using their wits instead of brawn (because they have no brawn). What I enjoyed most were the settings in Bavarian castles and the history of Ludwig II, of which I was previously unaware. (The Disneyland Castle was inspired by one of Ludwig's behemoth castles. Duh...I didn't know that.) This is an okay read.
review 2: I took this book along on a trip as a fun summer read, and it was perfect for that. Intrigue and lots of action, but not terribly thought-provoking. I was able to figure out the clues way before the characters did-- w... moreith the exception of one twist I didn't see coming. One of the things that kept taking me out of the story was several people who were 6' tall and repeatedly described as "giant" or "the Hulk". I'm wondering if something was lost in translation? less
