review 1: Absolutely dreadful. Repetitive, predictable and thoroughly awful; rather like a very bad hammer horror. I only finished it because it was a book club read and I am dreading the meeting because I know they group will see the flaws in this. With some serious editing it might have worked, but it was like...think of something...oh yes, I'll throw that in as well! Don't waste your time on it unless you like Penny Dreadfuls!
review 2: A timeslip story going between the recent present day and the late 16th century. Fans of Barbara Erskine would probably enjoy this. Grace Trewe is in York to sort out her dead godmother's estate. She finds herself increasingly sucked into the previous life of Hawise Aske, a servant girl in Tudor York. I thought that Hawise's story was
... moregood and very atmospheric. The author has obviously done a lot of research into York and the way of life during Tudor times. I wasn't so keen on the modern day story, the romance was predictable and there were too many different themes thown into the mix. less

3.5 stars. I would have given it 4 stars if it hadn't dragged in places, but I did enjoy it.

An enjoyable read. I thought the transitions between past and present were well done.
Yoanna
A sort of time travel novel like the ones of Barbara Erskine.
