Demon Underground
review 1: In "Fang Me," we pick up not long after Try Me left off. Due to the mistakes made by certain members of the DU (Demon underground), Val is left working for the Vampire leader of the New Blood Movement, Alejandro, in order to settle the debt owed to them and to fill the promises made. Val's Mission: discover the location of the Encyclopedia Magicka at all costs, lest it fall into the wrong hands. This becomes increasingly more difficult when the supposed 'keeper' of the books, Trevor Jackson, shows up unexpected, demanding their return. Only, the books don't want to be found by Trevor and insist that Valentine find them before he can. Valentine races against the clock to uncover the books' whereabouts and each end turns out to be a dead one. What hope does she have of... more finding them herself? And when she starts to hear an unknown voice in her head, can she even be trusted to keep anything, including the books, safe? These and many other trials will war with Val's priorities and will hinder her progress at ever turn. Val must do everything in her power to find the books; to fail just might mean the destruction and peril of the world. I loved this short read of Parker Blue's. It wasn't at all difficult to get into and it took no time at all to read it. I enjoyed the mystery this book had to it, though I would've been more pleased with A LOT more action. Not much to induce the adrenaline, but plenty to keep my mind occupied with.
review 2: I got the first three books of this series as a single e-book through NetGalley. The writing is the best I have ever read but I still loved these books. I devoured them and the fourth book. I'm struggling to cope with the fact that I don't have a fifth book. Val is an enjoyable character. I love her attitude and the fact that she really has few answers but she follows her heart and seems to be right more often than she is wrong. She makes mistakes.I love Fang - I don't think there is a character out there I love more. As a telepathic terrier - he is funny and so loveable. I desperately want that dog. There is some romance and that was entertaining. I can't wait to see where Val goes from here. less
