Crowfield Abbey
review 1: This book is really good. There is lots of action and mysteries in this book. The book is about a boy who had to move to Crowfield after his family died in a house fire. He finds out he has "the sight" and can see things that average people can't see. He makes a new friend that others cant see. He is a hob a magical creature of the forest. And they both go on a dangerous adventure to find the Crowfield curse. Can't wait to finish the rest of the book.Suspenseful and spooky...with an edgy battle between good and evil. A wondrous mystery. Will and the hob go into a forest after the hob confesses a horrible secret. There is something buried in the snow, just beyond a graveyard.
review 2: I really enjoyed the unique setting of this story-- a medieval abbey. It was a
... more pleasant change of pace for middle grade reading. The description of the life of hardship and scarcity at the abbey is fantastic. The plot is unique due to the time period and the fantasy aspects, such as the hobgoblin who befriends the main character, the immortal leper searching for a cure, the buried angel, and the fay creatures. Although the main character, William,is clearly a kind-hearted boy, I didn't feel overly connected to him, or, really, to any of the characters. Still, this book will be a great addition to the middle school library and should have broad appeal. less

Is there a sequel? This book was awesome, though the blurb would've thrown me off.
