review 1: As a kid that frequently went camping with dogs, viewing Alfie's panic over combating the protagonist's fears of "The Great Outdoors" is completely understandable. Handling it through Alfie's eyes added humor, which allows children to explore their own very real concerns. Definitely recommend pairing this with other books about camping if reading with a child who has genuine concerns about camping outdoors.
review 2: A boy and his dog campout in the backyard overnight. The boy assures the reader that Alfie isn’t afraid of anything and lists all kinds of terrors that Alfie does not fear. One look at the illustrations and readers know Alfie is fearful of all those things and more. Artwork is rendered in ink and finished digitally. My favorite spread is when Alf
... moreie is swallowed by a boa constrictor and you can see an outline of a dog inside the snake’s body and on the next page Alfie hiding in the boy’s sleeping bag. A good read aloud about a creative boy and his faithful furry friend. less

Cute idea...too bad it basically catalogs everything a child could be afraid of camping.
