review 1: In Carman’s second book of the Pulse Trilogy, he continues the excitement. The romance between Faith and Dylan is ongoing, but they must focus on saving the east and west states from the three other second pulses that use their power of telekinesis for evil. Faith spends some time sharpening her defensive skills to get revenge on Clara, who purposely murdered Faith’s best friend. Dylan finds out that Andre Quinn, not one of the five second pulses, is his biological father. Dylan, Faith and Hawk, their nerdy computer friend, set out to find where the Quinn’s are hiding. They find the family through surveillance hiding in an abandon in a maximum security prison in Colorado. Dylan decides to take the chance that he can find out what their master plan is by showing up at... more the prison and informing his father that he has a son. Dylan, Faith, Hawk and their allies try to stay one step ahead to stop the Quinn’s. As usual Carmen leaves the reader wanting more with the fast paced ending to this second installment. Will good or evil prevail in the third book conclusion of the trilogy? Will Faith and Dylan be able to save the states even while enduring their specific weaknesses?
review 2: This is my own little Hunger Games. Romantic duo Dylan and Faith continue to take on the bad guys who are out to destroy civilization in a world trying to still recover from global warming. These kids can fly, throw heavy objects and protect themselves from harm. Problem is so can the bad guys who there are more of and (spoiler) possible related. The characters not the plot really drive the book. Faith is stubborn, her geeky Intel friend Hawk is hilarious and brilliant and Dylan.... Well he's just kind of dreamy and loyal to the cause and his girl. There are wolves, bullet suits, a flying prison and more including a kick ass battle scene with Faith and bitchy Gretchen. Revenge is sweet and messy. Don't miss the second of the Pulse trilogy. Twist at the end I did not see coming... And I usually do. less
