This was a quick, easy read. I demoted it a couple of stars because I felt the characters were underdeveloped and overly simplified. Although it's trying to reach a wide audience and clearly has an ulterior motive (the phone number for the author's consulting agency is in the back), we could have handled more rigor than the umpteenth mention of "she paused for impact" and other ad nauseum cliches. The author repeatedly claims that the message of the book is simple - it's actually implementing the message in the workplace that is the hard part. That about sums it up. To say you should trust your colleagues and put the team's best interests first is a no-brainer. To really *do that* is a different beast entirely.
Nowadays we talk a lot about teams, but what is a team, what makes a good one and how to support a team to overcome the typical team dysfunctions.I hesitated to read the book since years. Mainly because the model founds on trust and the fluffy look in the mainly in the agile community announced me a bit. I was quite surprised on the pragmatic look on the book on how to build trust and distinction the view form trust to being vulnerable. The book itself describes a great model and the best it provides a lot of understanding of the intentions behind, which made me think on how to apply the model more effectively in my work. The book is a must read for people, who work with teams and want to improve.
Fun to read, but a little light on substance.
Read for work.
