review 1: What a refreshing change from what I've been reading! This story has it all. It took me to China where I learned a little about the country and its history. This also talks about adoption and the complexities of a foreign child trying to fit in American society. It also has family dynamics, not only of the adoptive family, but of the girl's biological family merging in as well. There is a disease that penetrates into this family circle that will either shatter them or make them stronger, with God's help and grace.
review 2: I really, REALLY liked this book! A story of adoption, medical issues, teen angst and culture clash. Kai tries to reclaim her sister, Lily, after Lily was adopted by Americans. While Kai was studying to become a doctor, she realizes th
... moreeir mother most likely died of a genetic disease, so her search for Lily becomes even more important to her. A wonderful story of family - both of the blood and the heart. I highly recommend this book! less
