review 1: Paula Deen's joyful, energetic approach to cooking is the perfect attitude to bring to a children's cookbook. The book starts off with safety tips and basic definitions of various cooking terms like sifting and sautéeing, and then gives clear, illustrated instructions for making a variety of foods for each meal. The recipes range from the familiar and easy (Ants on a Log) to more complicated, creative recipes like rice-filled meatballs that cook up to resemble porcupines. The book puts the child at the center of the cooking experience, with an "adult helper" who is just there to handle sharp knives and hot pans. Ingredient lists have pictures of all the supplies and tools needed to make each dish, and extra pages are filled with Deen's memories of cooking as a child and w... moreith her own children. review 2: This book is a great book for kids of all ages. The book shows pictures of what you need so even kids that are not able to read words can read the pictures. This is a good introduction to reading non-fiction as it has table of contents, glossary, a safety first section, and an index. It even gives some recipes for making things that children wouldn't eat like bubbles and play clay. All of the different elements of this book make it a great book for children. This would be a good read aloud for ages 4th to 6th. less
