review 1: I love a good second chance romance. I liked Connor and Mary, even though they are both stubborn. They could have saved themselves years of heartache if they would have tried to work it out. It was funny, though. Connor loves Mary's stubbornness. It is fun to see them work through their old issues and get back together. There is also political drama, intrigue, and danger. Not to mention the blades Mary keeps under her dress. I enjoy this series.
review 2: The story completely flowed and the elements really kept me intrigued. The one thing that was getting on my nerves because was the back and forth between Mairi MacGregor and Connor Grant. He had left her a long time ago and they were childhood sweethearts. Blah, blah, blah, get over it already. He went off to... more fight in the King's army and she went to fight in the militia. She was brash, tough, über sassy, and spirited. He was brave, courageous and a great soldier. They make a formidable couple. I was happy once the bickering ended and she finally admitted her feelings for him. Their romance was ok but, it was not heart-tugging or tear jerking. Paula Quinn writes a great historical romance and I love this series. less
