review 1: I picked this book up at the library with the hopes that it would give me some good advice for assisting my son during his educational endeavors. It was not helpful at all. Its a really long book where the author talks about millions of studies that are showing that boys are falling behind in school and because of the feminist movement we are ignoring it. She did talk about several school districts that are trying to change this (some successfully, others not so much), and she did briefly mention a few things that we as parents can do. But otherwise this book was a big fat waste of my time. I am notorious for trudging through every book that I ever pick up whether I enjoy it or not, but I just couldn't bring myself to waste anymore time with this one. I read about 3/... more4 of it.
review 2: It was worthwhile to read since we have three boys, and I can really see these struggles already developing in ours. I gained a bit more insight on things to be aware of, ways to help them and possibly new ways to communicate with their teachers. What I felt that the book lacked were any true "answers" or a final conclusion. It's all really guesswork based on assorted data that may or may not be well supported. A bit frustrating near the end, honestly. less

Good research, but not enough strategies on what to do about engaging more boys in school.

Found this book very insightful but the author did seem like an alarmist to me.
