review 1: The plot of this book had lots of potential. What I have always loved about Peter David is the way he writes emotional scenes; if you are not careful, you will find yourself tearing up.However, the plot's potential wasn't fully realized. The flashbacks to the family's history added nothing to the story, and the book was bordering on being boring. But then again, Peter David's writing style is something I'd never stop liking, and so I read this book from cover to cover. If it was a writer less competent, I highly doubt it.
review 2: Summery: Since humans have had to leave there planet, Earth, they began to live on a new planet, in which they named Nova Prime. General Cypher Raige is part of a long line of heroes. He and his son, Kitai Raige, are not very close. T
... morehat being said, Cypher takes his son on a trip with him meant to rebuild their relationship, but when a storm of asteroids collides into their spaceship they crash land on Earth, where each and every animal there has evolved to kill humans. When they crash land they discover that Cypher is wounded very badly and they must get help. Kitai now must venture into Analysis: Earth all on his own and succeed, or he and his father will both die."After Earth" is a nicely written book. I enjoyed it, but I think that it needs some work. Perhaps I think this because I watched the movie first. In the book there was a lot of action, but I felt as though the plot started to get a bit boring and as I came towards the end, I was racing to get the book finished since I was not interested in it anymore. Also, in few places of the book (such as pages 43, 96, and 167) it went back in time to where the people were trying to get out of planet Earth to go to a new planet, where they would not die or when different people in the Raige family were fighting and or giving information about the Raige family history. When the book went into those parts I had to force myself to keep reading it, and not just skip it all together. As for the characters, I think they were all too serious. I believe that the book lacked and needed a character that was fun and loving. Almost each and everyone of the characters in the book was either sad, angry, frustrated, guilty, or just plain serious.Overall, the book was pretty good although with some more work it could become an extraordinary book that people would love. less

It isn't like most books based off of movies, it seems like it would be better than the movie.
