review 1: I do not know what it is about books like this that capture my imagination and make me yearn for more. Whatever it is, This series has it in spades. I read on average 10-20 books a month sometimes more sometimes less, It gets hard to find good books after a while. Can't wait for book 4 to come out next month. Only problem is after that is read have to wait for another :P While not as deep as David Weber's Honor Harrington series or John Scalzi's Old Mans war series This series has captured my imagination just as much, and if the series continues like it has, well into the future. Thank you Mr Grant
review 2: Well, I can't say I loved this. I read two thirds of this book and had to put it away. This is Gilligan's Island meets space opera in a very Brady way.
... moreThe characters didn't feel real, the discourse seemed fluffy and too casual and comfortable, and the book bored and annoyed me equally. If everything wasn't so bubblegum snap and sugary, if the book had some Sci Fi grit or grime, I'd have been fine with this and possibly would have quite enjoyed it. He'll, even the violence was dull and the tech was just sort of "eh." We all don't just get along, and that is where this novel strayed to heavily from a speculative look at a futuristic reality and wound up in the forgettable pile. less

Reminds me a lot of YA Heinlein, but a bit darker. Liked it.
