review 1: Sucked balls, which is too bad because I love Damian as Robin, but this fell short and disappointed in every way. First of all, there was really no "Batman & Robin" it was pretty much just all "Robin", which could have been cool because like I said I dig Damian, but the whole 'dark knight' element was missing entirely from this book. IN fact, it sort of relegates to a shitty horror book, not a mystery/detective/adventure like a proper Batman story should. Extreme disappointment; sad batfan.
review 2: So this is the Death of the Family volume of Batman & Robin. It's a story that pretty much all the Bat-family books (Nightwing, Batman, Teen Titans, Batgirl, Red Hood & The Outlaws, and this one) are including in their collected editions. Basically, they will all... more have Batman #17 in their collections along with some prequel and sequel chapters about the main character of the series. This is the fourth one I've read with this story, and sadly it's not as good as Red Hood or Nightwing's versions. This whole collection (B&R 15-17, B&R Annual #1, and Batman #17) isn't put together very well. It's like 3 separate stories. First you have the Annual, which is light and sappy, with some humor. I liked that one. Then you have the main Death of the Family bit, which is B&R 15-16 and Batman 17. It's got a creepy gross vibe to it, but it probably my least favorite of the Batfamily stories of this. Then we get a really weird ending (B&R 17) that I really disliked. It seemed like the writers had no idea what to do with Damian and Bruce as an epilogue to Death of the Family. less
