review 1: An interesting story from the point of view of Mr. Heming. Would not say its a dark story, more of a psychological book. The author does a solid job of portraying Heming, all the mannerisms were convincing to me. This was the biggest plus for the book, however I simply never felt engrossed by the story. It felt like 281 pages of life as a voyeur. No thrills outside of some tension with police. Heming's track record as a real estate agent is top notch but I just wasn't entirely sold on the story overall.
review 2: This is one of those books everyone will be on about this year, could easily see this as a movie along the lines of 10 Rillington Place, but unlike a lot of new thrillers which seem pre-written as a movie treatment, this is the genuine article. It is c
... morereepy, slow and methodical in its' approach. You have to concentrate as bits of information are thrown up through the book which make new circumstances of what has just been read. It's a voyeuristic insight into the mind of soemone you'd blindly trust...what's more innocent than giving a key to your house to an estate agent? Nothing, other than he never gives the key back.....From subtle psychological warfare to full on intrusion and stalking this is a must read, a highly accomplished book and one which left me feeling a bit dirty and creeped out...the voice of Mr Heming is one you'll hear echoing in your head. less
