Fever Crumb
review 1: Continuing the Fever Crumb series. I had to read the next installment to see how Fever's story would continue. Same imaginative writing, excellent characters, some satirical sending up of the superstitions (religions) of the new country (which could turn off fundamentalist readers) but all in all, a very satisfying and fun to read series. Fever meets a young man, and although she is far too sensible to be interested in him romantically, she is fascinated by his discoveries regarding flying (and starting to be puzzled by these fuuny things called feelings.) Reeve is consistent in the steampunk genre, showing us clever, magical adaptations of technology while still keeping the setting rather 18th century...sort of a future that has gone backwards to the past. Fun s... moretuff!
review 2: Frankly I found this book riveting, and probably the best one out of the series. Fever finds herself in the middle of intrigue, flying machines, talking birds, mystery, and mischief. Forced out of her comfort zone, Fever is forced to evaluate the usefulness of feelings, and finds it intruding in on her life. In the end she learns what it means to love someone so much, you are willing to sacrifice your own happiness for their sake. The pace of the book was just right, and filled with adventure and the unexpected. As in the other books in this series, though the most distracting part was that the story switched too much between characters. In the end, it made for an interesting tale, but I found it distracting. Some of the story was predictable, but none the less it was a great read. This is a young adult book, and should probably not be read by young children. less

A bit anti-climatic, but all-around enjoyable.
