review 1: Well, this one wasn’t that bad, but it wasn’t all that great either. The story premise was good and it’s what hooked me into buying the book. But the story came up short in my opinion. This is the story of Carrie, who in the beginning of the story is just about to become a married woman in just a few weeks time. It is also the story of Matt, a doctor who’s works for a medical charity and has been out working in a remote location and a recent mishap has sent him back home. The two end up going on a road trip together in small VW bus. This story focuses on these two characters as they come to grips with what life has thrown at them; as well trying to convey to the reader a developing relationship between them. This is where the story falls short. On one page ... moreCarrie is happily doing her own thing; hanging with Spike; Matt with Lola. Next thing you know, they’ve fallen for each other. There wasn’t much to happen in between that would have caused this to happen. It’s so, so.
review 2: ~ I love Phillipa Ashley's writing style! It never gets old and she always delivers a fun, cheeky, and sometimes steamy British Chick lit with more depth than realized at first glance. Her characters seem so real to me and oftentimes I have found myself wanting to be friends with them. I love learning British slang and there's so much of it in this one. I would love to try it out at work but I think a few of them would get me sent to the Principal's office!! If you're looking for a getaway book look no further than this one! less
