| So, I didn’t realize that this was really, really short. Until I was reading through it and was watching the percentage counter tick up higher and higher. But that’s ok. I was enthralled in the read. I loved reading through and watching the story unfold. Especially the reveal towards the end. That was great!
I really want to know more about Drayton. We get a very brief glimpse of what exactly he is at the beginning and the end of the read, but it’s only a teaser. Who is Drayton, and more importantly, what is he? If you enjoy short, yet well-developed reads that involve mystery and a bit of darkness, then check this out. You won’t be disappointed! |
So, when I first picked this up off of InstaFreebie, I wasn’t really sure what to expect out of it. But, I found the premise intriguing, which sold me on it. And sold I am on it. Seriously, this is an awesome read. Throughout the 70 pages, I was on the proverbial edge of my seat because I wanted to know what was next. Each chapter, whether it was long or short, gave me something new to ponder. And the reveal at the end was great. I thought there was something there at one point that Drayton and Parker had known each other for years. But, then, it wasn’t that way.
I’m intrigued by the mystery surrounding Drayton. A savage vampire toned down by the ages and his own reluctance to become that very same savage he had been. He’s very mysterious, and I really want to know about him. For instance, I’m not sure what he was doing when he was at the crash. Does he drink blood? Or has he shifted to a different sort of substance? Is he affected by sunlight? There are so many questions that I personally want answered that I’m really tempted into getting the rest of the novellas in the series.
If you like darker reads that involve mystery, and a little bit of the supernatural, then this is certainly for you. Though, you might want to have all five of them ready, just in case. This novella will leave you craving for more.
