review 1: My 10 year old avid reader needed a right level book without too much YA content. Our local bookstore recommended The Last Wild. Intrigued by the plot, I read it with her. We both then recommended it to my mother. I speak now for three generations of animal lovers who raced right through, enjoying every whimsical mouse dance and interspecies show of affection and chewing our cuticles every time the bad guys rolled in. We're now hoping that my daughter's newly formed 5th grade girls book club will want to read about the Wild. This good book leaves us with questions and reflections to be shared with friends.
review 2: The narration of this book gets four stars - it was exceptional. Taking place in a dystopian world where the animals have died (with the exception ... moreof a very few), the 12 year old son of a scientist escapes a home for troubled children and is able to communicate with the last of the wild animals helping them on their quest. Each animal has a memorable voice making the entire work a joy to listen to. A fast paced book that would be entertaining and thought provoking for the entire family. less
