review 1: Apprentice tattoo artist Ashley Byrne is young and happy and enjoys his circle of friends and the easy sex that he finds in the Chicago clubs he frequents. And with his looks he most often gets the guys he set his sights on. But when he helps move his older brother in with his fiancee Marisol, Marisol's friend and co-worker, the geeky Fee Navarro seems impervious to Ash's charms and the boy likes a challenge...This story in many ways reminded me of a 50's rom-com. While neither Ash nor Fee fits the typical Doris Day role, they both have a bit in common with Rock Hudson and the minor skirmishes and the outcome is almost a forgone conclusion. And that's just fine. The story is ably told and both boys are charmers so of course the reader is soon rooting for them to get over ... moretheir initial difficulties and see that they're perfect for each other. Even the title sort of has echos in the 50's - How to Marry a Millionaire (1953)?? and it occurred to me partway through that surprisingly for a book co-authored by an author with three X's in her name, the sex scenes in this were relatively tame. Though by the end there's at least one bedroom scene that would have never seen print in the 50's no matter what gender the two lovers were. This is a fun light hearted read that is just the thing when one needs a respite from heavier fare.
review 2: Let me star by saying.... I was rooting for Ash from the start. :)Even with his stalker-ish ways. Fee was kinda weird during that time too. The 'geeky' stuff was okay. Not really my thing, I was in the same boat with Ash. I could of lived without the guidebook pre-chapter bits. I felt like it kind of gave away what was going to happen next in the book. This was a super easy and surprisingly fun read. I loved all the secondary characters. I went looking for the next book, hoping for Ty's. But, doesn't look like there is any. Bummer. less
