review 1: I'm not sure everyone would love this book but my daughter (4th grade) and I sure did (she read the whole series in a month... couldn't put them down; my son also liked them at the same age). The books are funny and our favorite parts are when the author speaks to us in first person. We laughed and read portions aloud to each other regularly. I hope PB writes more because these mysteries made us happy (he even warns when a scary part is approaching). That said, they are quirky and silly and light-hearted. I've never quite read anything like it. We own the series if anyone wants to borrow some.
review 2: I love this series! It seems as if the author is actually speaking to you as you read it. Also the characters are great. In some books, the characters are... more fake and don't seem real, but in this series, Cass, Max-Ernest, and Yo-Yoji seem really alive. They seem as if you could just walk up to them at school. The author also seems like they are part of the book, kind of like an outside narrator who was kind of watching the entire thing happen from lots of different points of views. It was a great series. less
