review 1: I waffled between 3 stars and 4. 4 stars because I think he's right. 3 stars because most of this seems obvious to me. Nevertheless, I'm beginning to think that it is not obvious to everyone and I want to be sure that people who want to lead well would give this one a try.Mohler seems to write out of his own experience as a leader and he titrates the experiences into 25 principles. They are mostly practical and they play together in concert but won't work well as a magic incantation for someone who wants to self-convert from slug to leader. As Mohler points out, there are some parts of leadership that can be learned and some parts that are just part of ones temperament.
review 2: Maybe three stars is a bit overly critical, but I expected something better.
... moreMohler states at the outset that he wants to change how the reader thinks about leadership. I don't think he accomplished that in me, but that is not to say his book isn't useful or wise. The main theme is that leaders need to lead according to their convictions. Mohler devotes a short chapter (usually seven pages) to each of 25 leadership principles. Each bit of advice was fine, but there are two main critiques I would make: one, the structure of the book was rather haphazard (the chapters didn't flow in logical order--it was as if each chapter was written in a vacuum and intended to be read that way); and, two, each principle lacked specific examples and applications. If Mohler had ordered the chapters in a more compelling way and if each chapter had greater detail, the book would have been a lot better. less

God has used Al Mohler at Southern Seminary. I am thankful for his leadership. Great book.

Short, powder-keg chapters. Mohler sets the bar high where it should be.
