review 2: God comes off as a lousy parent for humanity in Genesis. No wonder "his" children are so poorly behaved. Spiteful and capricious, often showing favoritism for no apparent reason. The illustrations are well done and make the (often tediously written and repetitive) material much more bearable. R. Crumb really
... more likes to draw breasts (or failing that nipples) and will apparently try to do so at any opportunity. I knew this beforehand, but it was still kind of annoying.Gods chosen people (from which the jewish people claim descent) were apparently in-breeders, cheats, liars and polygamists. Oh, and they may have had sex out of wedlock. All of which god either turns a blind eye toward, or endorses. The religions for which this is a sacred text are clearly drawing their modern moral codes from elsewhere. There are extensive justifications for "gods chosen people" laying claim to land already occupied by others. That and dirty tricks to gain such. less

Jaw droppingly gorgeous. And not nearly as cheeky as you would expect from Crumb.

One of the best renditions of Genesis available.
