review 1: I read this book because I really enjoyed Sleep Tight and Only the Innocent. The story is set around a hit and run car accident and how it intersects with so many lives. The author cleverly leads the story without revealing which character is involved in each side plot. Most of the characters have some kind of secret, but she leaves the reader to try to figure out which belongs to each, providing some hints along the way. I had a bit of trouble getting into it at first because of all the characters, back stories, and reading from each one's point of view without knowing who each was. Mostly that was due to timing because I wasn't able to read more than a chapter or two at a time. I liked learning more about some of the characters from Sleep Tight and I can't wait to ... moreread the next one!
review 2: I am on the fence with this book. I definitely didn't love it but I did not hate it either. We find out early on in the book that a young girl called Abbie gets knocked down by a car whilst being chased. We then find out about secrets that various people in the village are keeping. I felt that the book was not structured enough and I found myself wondering what the various secrets had to do with the main story. I found myself wanting to shake the main protagonist and just tell somebody what was going on. It all does come together in the end, but I found myself quite relieved when I had finished this book. less
