review 1: my second rachel abbott book in 2 weeks and I wasnt disappointed. easy to read, with enough twists and turns that anyone could have done, a good study of the effects of psychological domestic abuse and manipulation, and although laura irritated me in the beginning, I liked the way her character developed throughout the book, the only thing that i didnt like was the use of letters telling the story - no one writes letters like that, an explanatory chapter as flashback would have been more believable
review 2: Although a dark subject matter, once I started this book I could not put it down. I found myself at work waiting for lunch so I could read. It takes a bleak look into emotional/mental abuse and shows you how it starts and then escalates into insanity neve
... morer leaving any physical marks but heavy scars nonetheless. A murder takes place in the first chapter, but there is so much more to the story other than who actually did it. There are many other mysteries and back history leading up to the murder that will keep you on the edge wherein layers upon layers are revealed up to the riveting conclusion. This is the first book by Abbott that I've read and I will definitely be immersing myself in her other and future books. less
