review 1: It's valuable in showing some of the historical issues of 1960s and autism during that time (similar to Al Capone Shines My Shoes) because it is the sibling of the main character and it focuses on what people thought of autism at the time. It's short and simple as Juli tries to do right by her brother in launching a space ship to Jupiter after he's dealt some medical issues where he loses himself more than he was before, but she won't lose hope herself. Nothing too inspiring but historical.
review 2: beautiful moving story. i was expecting this to be the usual story about a 16 year old girl who grows up over the summer - well, i'm correct but the story itself was heartbreaking.first, i realized that i'm so lucky to have lived a good life. she has a bad life - t
... morehey're poor, her parents are always fighting, her beautiful sister juli has her own rebellious/hippie mind, her younger brother cliff was weird, she didn't seemed to have any friends, her hot best friend is infatuated with her sister, her grandpa barley is going senile... too much happening at home that it bordered on unbelievable, but coker did a good job managing the story equally, though i would have liked to see more depth in juli's character. she was just in and out of the story and when she eventually *spoiler alert* left and went back home again, there were no explanations why. but i guess the focus was on the lesson that everything will be alright. i liked the girl, she seemed like the only sane person in her family. i was crying with her when chapter after chapter everything just fell apart and she was trying hard to be strong. i was surprised that it was a christian book and there were scenes with mrs greene teaching her about God's love and His plans for us. i can relate to this because recently i have been going to bible study and whatever mrs greene was telling her was exactly what my bible study mentor was telling me! i also felt that the message about God and moral of the story was not too preachy... though i'm not sure how non-Christians will feel about this book.overall, great read, i couldn't put it down! less
