review 1: Melissa, Janie, Charlotte & Petra are all 8th graders at Winston Prep, all budding fashionistas, all rich, all self-centered. This is “The Clique” or “Gossip Girls” for middle school girls. Although I couldn’t get past the first 100 pages, I didn’t spot anything offensive beyond the premise itself. The girls all wear the latest styles – all described in detail – and have designed a handbag that sold for big bucks netting the girls $15,000 each and the opportunity to be featured in a fashion magazine. The rest of the story is about BFFs and BFs and all the rest typical of a book like this. This is the 4th Poseur novel (described as “brilliant” “stylish & hilarious” on the back). Maybe middle school girls are still reading this genre, but high... more school girls are pretty well done. Add to the thin plot & annoying characters a cover that looks like it’s from the 80s (does anyone really wear a beret?), and I just cannot recommend this book. Maybe I'm just too old and jaded to appreciate this book. Sorry!
review 2: After reading a lot of more complicated or heart wrenching books, I'm looking to something that is more light and funny. Ahhhh, I can't wait for this to come out (even though it was supposed to come out in January, then this weekend, but now the release dates been pushed back...again). I really hope that Charlotte and Jake finally end up together, cause it's been hanging there since the first book and their my favorite couple in this story. less
