review 1: I really enjoyed this audiobook compilation of short stories. Several of the stories have the common thread of the character killing the object of his / her love / affection. I found the most enjoyable of the stories to be the first about the Bengal Ming and the last sci-fi type insect world. The only story that I found tedious rather than enjoyable was the story of Shanti the elephant, though it was creatively designed from the elephant's perspective. The author is quite masterful at portraying his stories through the unique perspectives of his subjects. A thought-provoking study of love from various viewpoints.
review 2: Wat een bizarre verhalenbundel. Het zijn wel degelijk liefdesverhalen, maar aan de andere kant zit er aan elk verhaal weer een ander raar el... moreement. Elk verhaal is uniek en geen enkel verhaal lijkt op de ander. Telkens wanneer ik een verhaal uit had en aan de volgende begon dacht ik; hoe krijg je dit verzonnen? De verschillende werkelijkheden van Rajesh Parameswaran zijn onvoorstelbaar. In de huid van een tijger, olifantentaal vertaald, een onbehouwen beul met een zachtaardige kant en ga zo maar door. Behalve dat elk personage anders is, is ook de stem van elk personage verschillend. Op deze manier hebben alle personages van Parameswaran unieke eigen karakters. Tevens zit er een eigen Indiaas tintje aan elk verhaal, wat de bundel juist weer wel situeert in de werkelijkheid en het thuisland van de auteur. less
