review 1: In Horsefly and Honeybee these two insects get into a scuffle when they do not want to share a flower, resulting in each losing a wing. When the two are captured by a hungry bullfrog, they must set aside their differences and work together to escape. This is a cute story that teaches about sharing, working together, and friendship, all important social skills for young children to learn. The illustrations are beautifully saturated and full of subtle detail; and the bright, colorful flowers are one of the best parts of the book. Honeybee and Horsefly even in their stubbornness are very likable characters which readers will be rooting for the entire time. The book ends with a very suitable quote: “We are each of us angels with only one wing, and we can only fly by embrac... moreing one another.” –Luciano De Crescenzo
review 2: When I first saw the cover of this book it look like a clump of dirt with wings was holding hands with a bee. It looked a little strange & kind of off-putting. The story started off a little slow and I wasn't sure where the direction it was going, but it turned around. I thought this was a cute story about how we can come to one another's assistance. There was one funny element in the story where each of the characters used a word to express frustration it was "Drat". I was like was this book written in the 1940's or the 2000's most kids & parents won't understand it. They may if they are fans of the Looney Tunes cartoons. There was a saying at the back of the book that I thought was really sweet:We are each of angels with only one wing,and we can only fly by embracing oneanother.-Luciano Crescenzo. less
